Navigating Environmental Change
The 2009 Kachemak Bay Science Conference will be held in Homer, Alaska, March 6-7, 2009.

Keynote speakers:
- John Piatt is a seabird and marine ecosystem researcher at the USGS Alaska Biological Science Center.
- David Guggenheim, also known as the "Ocean Doctor", is president of 1planet1ocean and is a consultant in conservation policy and science in Washington, D.C.
Scope of the conference: Presentations on research, citizen science, and Local and Traditional Knowledge (LTEK) projects on some aspect of Kachemak Bay or research being conducted elsewhere with strong linkages to the dynamics of the bay.
Audience: The conference is being organized to provide the opportunity for researchers and citizen scientists to present their findings to each other and to the community of people who live in the bay and depend upon its resources. A K-8 teacher workshop is being planned in conjunction with the conference to introduce the new Alaska Seas and Rivers curriculum developed by Alaska Sea Grant.
